Hamilton voorspelt beslissing titelstrijd in laatste race

McLaren-coureur Lewis Hamilton verwacht dat het kampioenschap dit jaar net als vorig seizoen in de allerlaatste race beslist zal worden. In 2007 konden in Brazilië nog drie man de titel winnen. Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen en Hamilton moesten uitmaken wie met het kampioenschap aan de haal zou gaan en uiteindelijk scoorde Raikkonen één punt meer dan het McLaren-duo.

Op dit moment staan Felipe Massa, Raikkonen en Hamilton met evenveel punten op de eerste plek in de stand, op twee punten gevolgd door Robert Kubica. Hamilton: Het kampioenschap is spannend. Drie coureurs met hetzelfde aantal punten en Robert die dichtbij staat, het wordt een interessante tweede seizoenshelft. Heikki Kovalainen en ik gaan proberen om zoveel mogelijk punten te scoren voor McLaren. Ik denk dat de kampioen pas in de laatste race bekend zal worden, maar we zullen wel zien.

Hamilton hoopt op een dubbelzege over anderhalve week in Duitsland. Ik heb net mijn thuisrace gewonnen en dat was fantastisch. De volgende thuisrace staat alweer voor de boeg. Op de Hockenheimring krijgen we veel steun vanwege Mercedes-Benz. Vanzelfsprekend wil ik daar ook goed presteren, hopelijk kunnen Heikki en ik als eerste en tweede eindigen.
