Hockenheim dag 2: Hamilton is concurrentie opnieuw te snel af

Lewis Hamilton heeft vandaag op de tweede testdag op de Hockenheimring opnieuw de snelste tijd gereden. De Britse McLaren-coureur was Nico Rosberg vier tienden te snel af, terwijl regerend kampioen Kimi Raikkonen als derde eindigt. Adrian Sutil zit er opnieuw goed bij met een vijfde tijd.

Hamilton reed vandaag zonder de haaienvin-motorkap en testte in de ochtend een nieuwe voorvleugel. Met dit alles blijft hij Rosberg, de drukste man op de baan met 117 ronden, ruim voor. Kimi Raikkonen eindigt als derde en is positief over zijn kansen voor de race over anderhalve week. "Ik ben tevreden met hoe alles is gelopen tijdens de afgelopen twee dagen. We hebben geprobeerd de auto zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden op de race hier. Ik denk dat dat goed gelukt is. De competiviteit van de auto is het probleem ook niet, zoals het hele jaar al is gebleken."

David Coulthard rijdt de vierde tijd en dat met een halve dag rijden. 's Middags werd de RB4 overgenomen door Mark Webber. Zusterteam Toro Rosso deelde de STR3 trouwens ook met hun twee coureurs. De vijfde tijd is voor Adrian Sutil en is ook veroorzaker van de eerste rode vlag van de testdag om 10.30 uur.

Tijdens de ochtend is het even rustig op de baan dankzij een regenbui, maar de omstandigheden verbeteren daarna snel. De andere twee rode vlag-situaties werden veroorzaakt in het laatste uur door Honda's Rubens Barrichello en Fernando Alonso in de Renault. De testdag werd aan het einde met tien minuten ingekort, om de teams de kans te geven starts te oefenen op het rechte stuk.

Morgen is de laatste testdag in Hockenheim. Dan zal onder andere Felipe Massa in actie komen voor Ferrari.
