Honda: "Herhaling van podiumplek onrealistisch"

Ineens belandde Rubens Barrichello tijdens de vorige race op Silverstone op een positie in de top drie en die podiumplek gaf de ervaren Braziliaan niet meer uit handen. Zodoende stond er voor het eerst in tijden weer eens een coureur van Honda op het podium. De Japanse renstal verliest zichzelf nu echter niet in onrealistische verwachtingen, teambaas Ross Brawn houdt geen rekening met nog een gang richting het podium.

De regenrace op Silverstone bood ons de mogelijkheid om de ervaring van de coureur te koppelen aan een goede teamprestatie en daardoor een verdiende podiumplek te behalen. Het team leverde uitstekend werk door te profiteren van alle mogelijkheden die de omstandigheden ons toereikten, geholpen door een geweldig rijdende Rubens die perfecte feedback over de banden gaf. Ons eerste podiumplek van het seizoen is natuurlijk goed voor de moraal, maar het is oneerlijk om te verwachten dat we dit onder droge omstandigheden kunnen herhalen.

Brawn hoopt wel dat de kwalificatie voortaan beter verloopt. Na de test op de Hockenheimring van vorige week komen we dit weekend met onze volgende aerodynamische, mechanische en motorische upgrade voor de RA108. De testsessie bood onze engineers inzicht in waarom we recentelijk zoveel moeite hebben om snel te zijn in de kwalificatie. Betere startposities moeten in het verschiet liggen en met de voorspelde wisselende weersomstandigheden belooft het een interessant weekend te worden.
