Red Bull Racing bevestigt komst Vettel

Sebastian Vettel rijdt volgend jaar voor het team van Red Bull Racing. Dat heeft de Oostenrijkse renstal vandaag bekendgemaakt. De jonge Duitser volgt David Coulthard op en gaat een duo vormen met Mark Webber.

De geruchten van een overstap van Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Vettel aan het einde van 2008 naar het eerste team van energiedrankenfabrikant Red Bull deden al langer de ronde. Twee weken nadat Coulthard openbaarde te stoppen is de nieuwe line-up voor 2009 al duidelijk.

Teambaas Christian Horner: We zijn verheugd dat Sebastian zich voor volgend seizoen bij ons aansluit. David maakte zijn afscheid twee weken geleden bekend bij zijn thuisrace en dus leek het ons gepast om de komst van Vettel bij diens thuisrace aan te kondigen.

Aangezien Sebastian al onderdeel uitmaakte van de Red Bull-familie was het geen moeilijke beslissing om hem als nieuwe stalgenoot van Webber te benoemen. Sebastian is pas 21 jaar en bevindt zich nog in een leerfase, maar het is overduidelijk dat hij over genoeg kwaliteit en snelheid beschikt.
