Bourdais maakt veel kans op contractverlenging

Scuderia Toro Rosso-baas Gerhard Berger heeft een tipje van de sluier over de line-up voor 2009 gelicht. Zonder namen te noemen maakte de Oostenrijker duidelijk dat Sebastien Bourdais veel kans maakt om zijn racezitje te behouden.

Voor Sebastian Vettel heeft Berger nog geen vervanger, maar hij aast op een jong talent aan de zijde van een ervaren coureur. Ik heb het liefst een mix van een jonge rijder in combinatie met een routinier, aldus de oud Formule 1-coureur tegenover sportnet.

Bourdais moet dan de rol van de ervaren coureur invullen. Zelf denkt hij ook dat hij zijn plek niet zal verliezen. Het vertrek van Vettel is waarschijnlijk goed voor me. Het team wil volgend seizoen liever niet met twee nieuwe coureurs beginnen, zei de Fransman eerder deze week.
