Klien wil BMW Sauber-teststoeltje behouden

Christian Klien ziet contractverlenging als testrijder van BMW Sauber als beste optie voor 2009. De Oostenrijker racete in het verleden voor Jaguar en Red Bull Racing, maar moet het nu doen met een rol op de reservebank. Dat heeft hij altijd nog liever dan racen in de GP2 of IRL IndyCars.

Ook probeerde hij vorig jaar een racestoeltje te bemachtigen bij Force India, maar dat gaat hij komende winter niet doen. Tegenover motorline.cc verklaarde Klien: Zoals de situatie nu is, test ik liever voor BMW Sauber dan dat ik voor Force India ga racen. Het team heeft wel goede mensen, maar met hun auto kan je alleen maar je talenten laten zien als het regent. Ik wil gewoon bij mijn huidige team blijven.

Klien sluit niet uit dat hij volgend jaar wel weer aan de start staat van de 24 uur van Le Mans. De IRL IndyCars is geen optie omdat de Oostenrijker de Amerikaanse serie te gevaarlijk vindt.
