Bridgestone neigt naar witgekleurde zijkanten voor slicks

Met het verdwijnen van de gegroefde banden moet Bridgestone voor volgend jaar een oplossing bedenken om het verschil in compounds duidelijk zichtbaar te maken. Momenteel gebeurt dat namelijk door een wit gekleurde groef.

Die verdwijnt in 2009 sowieso en dus moet Bridgestone op een andere manier het verschil tussen de zachte en harde band waarneembaar maken. De Japanse bandenleverancier neigt naar een gekleurde zijkant van de zachte band, zoals dat in de Champ Car gebeurde. De Amerikaanse raceserie maakte gebruik van rode banen op de zijkant van de zachte band, voor de Formule 1 vanaf 2009 denkt Bridgestone aan een witte baan.
