Bridgestone ook gelukkig zonder bandenoorlog

Bandenleverancier Bridgestone is niet minder blij nu de Formule 1 slechts één bandenfabrikant voor alle teams toestaat. Twee jaar geleden had de Japanse bandenfirma in Michelin nog een geduchte concurrent en was de ontwikkeling van de banden het belangrijkste dat de Formule 1 bezighield.

Tegenwoordig zijn de banden voor een heel jaar hetzelfde en moet alle progressie via de rest van de auto geboekt worden. Maar dat betekent niet dat de banden van mindere kwaliteit zijn. Hiroshi Yasukawa van Bridgestone op CNN: Onze Formule 1-banden staan nog steeds op de top van de technologische innovatie.

De Japanner is ook absoluut niet rouwig om het verdwijnen van de bandenoorlog. Naamsbekendheid en herkenbaarheid waren onze oorspronkelijke redenen om in de Formule 1 te stappen. Wij zijn dan ook vastberaden om verbonden te blijven aan deze sport.
