Contractverlenging levert Fisichella ook loonsverhoging op

Het is waarschijnlijk dat Giancarlo Fisichella ook in 2009 de kleuren van Force India verdedigt. De ervaren Italiaan heeft een optie in zijn huidige contract en het team moet voor 31 augustus bepalen of het die optie licht. Teameigenaar Vijah Mallya heeft al laten weten met zijn huidige duo door te willen gaan.

Een contractverlenging levert Fisichella ook meteen een aanzienlijke salarisverhoging nodig, zo bericht Auto Motor und Sport. Nadat hij eind vorig jaar zijn plek bij Renault verloor, stemde hij in om voor weinig geld zijn loopbaan levend te houden bij Force India. Hij liet wel de voorwaarde opnemen dat als hij voor 2009 mag blijven, dat hij dan een jaarsalaris van 1,5 miljoen dollar krijgt.
