Bridgestone vraagt om inspectie aan brug in Valencia

Bandenleverancier Bridgestone heeft de internationale autosportbond FIA gevraagd om de brug die onderdeel uitmaakt van het stratencircuit in Valencia te controleren. De Japanse autofabrikant is bang voor veel lekke banden door het hoogteverschil tussen het asfalt op de brug en het asfalt op de kade, zo meldt autosport.com.

Hirohide Hamashima, sportief directeur bij Bridgestone, stuurde daarom een brief naar FIA-racedirecteur Charlie Whiting. Tegenover autosport.com zegt Hamashima: Ik heb Charilie gevraagd om er eens naar te kijken. Het circuit ligt iets hoger op de brug en als een band continu over een randje moet, dan is een lekke band mogelijk. Het is niet slecht, maar als het aangepast kan worden zou dat beter zijn. Een egaal wegdek geeft minder risicos.
