Fisichella hoopt op wat geluk met safety car-periodes

Wil Force India dit weekend haar eerste punten van het seizoen scoren, dan heeft het team heel veel geluk nodig. Misschien dat de safety car een voordelige rol kan spelen op het stratencircuit van Valencia. Op basis van snelheid is de top acht ver buiten bereik, weet ook coureur Giancarlo Fisichella. In een normale race wordt het onmogelijk om punten te pakken, zegt hij op autosport.com.

De Italiaan hoopt daarom op een chaotische race. Met een goede strategie en een beetje geluk kunnen we ver komen. Je weet maar nooit. We moeten sowieso het einde van de race halen en profiteren van eventuele mogelijkheden die zich voordoen. De nieuwe naadloze versnellingsbak is goed en we hebben weer een stap gezet. De tijdwinst van twee, drie tienden is echter niet genoeg om op eigen kracht punten te pakken.

Over het Circuito Urbano de Valencia zegt Fisichella: Het is een stratencircuit, maar niet erg moeilijk. De baan is erg wijd en lijkt wat dat betreft op Melbourne. Je moet de lay-out wel onder de knie krijgen, maar ik denk niet dat je hier als rijder voor grote verschillen kan zorgen. Wat dat betreft lijkt het op elk ander circuit.
