Raikkonen neemt verantwoordelijkheid voor pitstop-blunder

Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen neemt de volledige verantwoordelijkheid voor zijn fout gelopen tweede pitstop in Valencia. De Fin snelde te vroeg weg, reed daarbij de monteur die tankte over en de enige schuldige daarvoor is de regerend wereldkampioen zelf. Raikkonen: Er valt weinig te zeggen over het incident. Ik ging gewoon iets te vroeg weg. Het was mijn fout en het is spijtig dat ik daardoor een monteur over reed.

Hij viel door de mislukte pitstop ver terug, maar enkele ronden later was het verhaal helemaal over. Met een dikke rookwolk kwam er een einde aan zijn V8-motor en de race van Raikkonen. Het was geen leuk weekend, maar dat was niet de eerste keer. Mijn situatie in het kampioenschap is verslechterd, maar als we alles voor elkaar krijgen, kunnen we de titel nog winnen. Vooral in de kwalificaties moet het beter. Dat zou al veel schelen. We weten wat de problemen zijn, maar jammer genoeg hebben we ze nog niet opgelost.
