Williams zet nieuwe voorvleugel komend weekend in

Williams testte vorige week op het circuit van Monza met een nieuwe voorvleugel en de Britse renstal is van plan om het nieuwe onderdeel komend weekend in te zetten voor de Grand Prix van België. De test in Italië verliep naar wens en dus ziet mede-eigenaar Patrick Head geen redenen om de nieuwe voorvleugel niet in te zetten.

Het is voor Williams zelfs noodzakelijk om gebruik te maken van het nieuwe onderdeel, anders kan het team een goed resultaat op de buik schrijven. Head legt uit waarom: Voorheen hadden we te veel last van onderstuur, waardoor de coureurs niet agressief de bochten in konden sturen. Dat moesten we altijd oplossen door de voorvleugel stijl te zetten, wat ten koste van onze topsnelheid ging omdat we meer luchtweerstand hadden. Met de nieuwe voorvleugel moet de balans beter worden. Zeker met het oog op twee hoge snelheid circuits is dat een goede ontwikkeling.
