Bridgestone stelt teams volgend jaar voor moeilijkere keuze

Bandenleverancier Bridgestone heeft de slick compounds voor 2009 ingeleverd bij de internationale autosportbond FIA. De Japanse firma gaf daarbij aan dat de verschillen tussen de zachte banden en het hardere rubber tijdens een Grand Prix-weekend volgend jaar groter zullen zijn. De teams wacht volgend seizoen een moeilijkere keuze voor de strategie.

Motorsportdirecteur Hirohide Hamashima vertelt op autosport.com: We nemen net als dit jaar twee bandentypes mee naar elk evenement en de compounds zullen variëren qua snelheid en karakter. De slijtage wordt anders en dat zal het lastiger maken voor de teams. De snelste ronden van de verschillende banden liggen redelijk dicht bij elkaar, maar het verschil zit in de ronden daarna. Dan praten we over een terugval van drie of meer tienden per ronde. De zachte banden slijten veel sneller en de harde band is meer constant.
