FOM sluit televisie-overeenkomst met ESPN Star Sports

Formula One Management (FOM) heeft vandaag bekend gemaakt dat het een overeenkomst heeft gesloten met ESPN Star Sports. De overeenkomst omvat internet-, radio- en mobiele telefoon-uitzendingen maar ook televisie-registraties gedurende de komende vijf jaar.

ESPN brengt de Formule 1 al bijna twintig jaar op de televisie bij een bijzonder groot publiek en zal dit dus gaan uitbreiden met nog eens 24 landen in de komende vijf jaar. Manu Sawhney, directeur ESPN: "We zijn er enorm trots op dat we een lange samenwerking met de FOM een historisch vervolg hebben kunnen geven. Het is een ideaal voorbeeld van hoe partners kunnen samenwerken om nog groter te worden."

Ook Bernie Ecclestone, de bezitter van de commerciële rechten van de Formule 1, is erg in zijn nopjes met de nieuwe overeenkomst. "We hebben de afgelopen jaren een enorme groei gezien van de sport in Azië. Met deze nieuwe overeenkomst hopen we die trend succesvol door te zetten."
