Voormalig coureur Blundell: "Spa-Francorchamps is het beste circuit"

Volgens voormalig Formule 1-coureur Mark Blundell is Spa-Francorchamps in de Ardennen van België het mooiste en beste circuit op aarde. Hij denkt dat zelf, maar ook dat veel coureurs het met hem eens zijn. Blundell reed in zijn 5 jaar durende Formule 1-carrière voor onder andere Ligier, Tyrrell en McLaren.

Mark Blundell: "Zonder twijfel is Spa-Francorchamps het meest uitdagende, geweldige circuit voor een Formule 1-coureur op aarde. Het is fantastisch om tijdens een Formule 1-seizoen terug te keren in de frisse lucht van de Ardennen en dan dit circuit te zien."

"Pouhon, Eau Rouge zijn geweldige bochten die de coureurs een geweldige uitdaging leveren, elke keer weer. Ik denk dat heel veel coureurs dit het beste circuit van de kalender en misschien wel van de wereld vinden", aldus Blundell die in zijn carrière in de Formule 1 ook regelmatig door Eau Rouge scheurde.

Een ander aspect dat de voormalig coureur een mooi aspect vind aan het circuit in België is het onvoorspelbare weer: "Het weer gaat absoluut een rol spelen, je kunt op een halve natte baan rijden. Het gaat een spectakel worden hier in de Ardennen dit weekend."
