Honda-coureurs blij niet als laatste te hoeven starten

Het gaat niet goed met het team van Honda. De prestaties van beide coureurs vallen erg tegen, met name in de kwalificatie. Die vormcrisis werd bevestigd tijdens de kwalificatie voor de Grand Prix van België. Barrichello en Button waren de eerste afvallers en eindigden op plaats zestien en zeventien.

Jenson Button over zijn kwalificatie, die werd bemoeilijkt door het feit dat hij op de zaterdagochtend slechts 20 meter in zijn bolide had gereden: "De sessie die ik daarstraks reed in de kwalificatie was de eerste van vandaag waardoor ik redelijk tevreden moet zijn. Ik ben blij dat ik sneller was dan mijn concurrenten en ook dichtbij mijn teamgenoot sta. Voor ons was het dus een redelijke sessie, dat kun je wel stellen. Gezien de mogelijkheden van de auto hier is het redelijk goeg gegaan. Regen voor morgen zou absoluut uitkomst voor ons bieden, maar zo ziet het er niet naar uit."

Teamgenoot Barrichello deed het niet veel beter en benadrukt daarom maar de progressie in het weekend: "We moeten nog redelijk tevreden zijn, in eerdere trainingen stonden we helemaal onderaan. We hebben dus progressie geboekt, dat is het enige positieve dat ik zie. Het is zo jammer dat onze bolide op dit circuit gewoon niet vooruit wil. Ik had het graag anders gezien."

Morgen zullen alleen de Force India-coureurs Sutil en Fisichella samen met de teleurstellende Nakajima achter de Honda-coureurs starten.
