Rosberg had slecht resultaat niet verwacht

Nico Rosberg had niet verwacht zo heftig te moeten vechten in de kwalificatie voor een plaats bij de laatste vijftien. Desondanks wist de coureur wel vantevoren dat de Williams het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps niet echt zou liggen, daarom waren de verwachtingen ook wel iets bijgesteld.

Nico Rosberg na zijn enigszins teleurstellende kwalificatie waarmee hij de vijftiende startpositie behaalde: "Ik had totaal niet verwacht dat het zo zwaar zou worden vandaag. Het is absoluut een enorme teleurstelling om zover achteraan te staan, we wisten wel dat de Williams-bolide hier niet echt goed aard maar om zover terug te vallen is rot."

Vorig jaar haalde Rosberg nog een mooie zesde positie op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps. Dat ziet Rosberg zichzelf niet nadoen en hij hoopt daarom ook op een flinke regenbui. Rosberg: "De balans in de auto was opzich prima. Het enige grote probleem is het tekort aan grip hier op dit circuit. Hierdoor kon ik absoluut niet sneller gaan dan de vijftiende plaats vandaag. Vooruitkijkend naar de race van morgen hoop ik op wat regen, mocht dat niet gebeuren dan wordt het een hele lastige race", aldus de Duitse coureur met Finse roots die zich vorig jaar tien plaatsen naar voren wist te kwalificeren, op een knappe vijfde plaats achter de beide Ferrari's en McLaren's.

Teamgenoot Nakajima behaalde zelfs een abominabel slecht resultaat door alleen Giancarlo Fisichella achter zich te laten door "een tekort aan grip".
