Hamilton verwacht eindstrijd met Massa

Huidig leider in de stand om het wereldkampioenschap Formule 1, Lewis Hamilton verwacht een gevecht met Felipe Massa om de wereldtitel. Hij verwacht dat deze strijd 'tot het gaatje zal gaan'. De McLaren-coureur start vanmiddag vanaf pole position op circuit Spa-Francorchamps met direct achter hem Ferrari's troef Felipe Massa.

Lewis Hamilton: "Massa is in topvorm, hij haalt op het moment het allermeest mogelijke uit zijn auto. Dat is knap. We zitten erg dicht bij elkaar."

"Samen met Ferrari en Raikkonen zijn zij een fantastisch team. Hij lijkt toch volgens mij echt het team te trekken. Massa is extreem getalenteerd en doet uitstekend zijn best. Het gaat hier erg spannend worden, net als in de rest van de races. Ik verwacht dat we tot het gaatje gaan in de eindstrijd."

Hamilton heeft in de voorgaande races een voorsprong van zes punten opgebouwd op Ferrari-rijder Massa. Direct daarachter staat zijn teamgenoot Kimi Raikkonen, die vorig jaar de wereldtitel pakte terwijl hij twee races voor het einde van het kampioenschap een achterstand van 17 punten had. Alles is nog mogelijk, met ook Robert Kubica nog op slechts twee punten van Raikkonen.
