Tost niet verbaasd door goede vorm Scuderia Toro Rosso

Het team van Scuderia Toro Rosso presteert de afgelopen races boven verwachting. Sebastian Vettel en Sebastien Bourdais kwalificeerden zich in Valencia en Spa-Francorchamps allebei in de top tien en in die races collecteerde de Italiaanse renstal een bulk punten. Het kleine team maakt een stormachtige ontwikkeling door, tot ieders verbazing, behalve die van de mensen bij Scuderia Toro Rosso zelf.

Teambaas Franz Tost: Het succes is heel simpel te verklaren en de oorzaken zijn duidelijk te benoemen. Ten eerste is daar de STR3. Red Bull Technology heeft ons een heel competitieve auto geleverd en Adrian Newey en zijn mannen kunnen trots zijn op hun product. Ten tweede is de Ferrari-motor heel belangrijk. Ze hebben ons niet alleen een uitstekende V8 gegeven, maar ook een goede groep engineers die de krachtbron runnen.

Het derde element is misschien wel de meest duidelijke en dat is ons rijdersduo. Beide coureurs presteren meer dan naar behoren. Het vierde en laatste aspect is dat het team zowel op de baan als in de fabriek in Faenza beter is gaan samenwerken. Technisch directeur Giorgio Ascanelli en zijn mensen halen het maximale uit onze mogelijkheden. Zet al die redenen bij elkaar en dan is het logisch dat we nu succes hebben.
