Ferrari heeft moeite met ontwikkeling KERS

Het team van Ferrari worstelt met de ontwikkeling van het volgend jaar toegestane KERS (Kinetic energy Recovery System), zo heeft motorenbaas Gilles Simon onthuld. Veel teams ondervonden al problemen bij de eerste kennismaking met het energie hergebruikende systeem en dus ook de mannen uit Maranello.

Simon: KERS is een complex onderwerp. Het brengt ons in contact met allemaal nieuwe en ingewikkelde gebieden, terwijl we ondertussen ook de ontwikkeling van de huidige auto staande moeten houden. Het wordt een grote uitdaging om volgend jaar aan de start te staan met het systeem. We leren elke dag, maar het gaat moeizaam. Ik denk dat alle teams moeite zullen hebben om vanaf de eerste race in 2009 met een betrouwbaar KERS te rijden.

In Autosprint zegt hij verder: Het systeem opladen bij het aanremmen mag men niet voor lief nemen. Net zoals we geen garanties hebben op het gebeid van betrouwbaarheid. Hetzelfde geldt voor de 80 extra pk, houdt dat stand tot het einde van de races? Degene die het beste met KERS overweg kan heeft een gigantisch voordeel voor 2009.

Dat voordeel is helemaal niet erg, leuk zelfs. Beloning na hard werken zeg maar.
Waar alle teams op moeten letten is dat als het systeem niet betrouwbaar is de auto\'s nogsteeds goed doorkunnen alleen dan zonder de voordelen van KERS, dan valt het nadeel wel mee zeg maar...
