VT1: Sutil snelste, sessie afgebroken door hevige regenval

Na de eerste vrije training voor de Grand Prix van Italië prijkt een Force India bovenaan het tijdenlijstje. Adrian Sutil reed in de beginfase de snelste tijd en omdat het na een half uur begon te regenen ging niemand meer sneller. Een kwartier voor het einde trok een enorme onweersbui over Monza, wat ervoor zorgde dat niemand meer de baan op ging en zes coureurs zonder tijd bleven.

Het water kwam met bakken uit de hemel en de wedstrijdleiding besloot om de training voortijdig af te breken. De putjes voor de garages stroomden over en de monteurs moesten met man en macht werken om het water buiten de pitboxen te houden, wat slechts gedeeltelijk lukte.

Onder zulke omstandigheden zijn momentjes een zekerheid. Kazuki Nakajima begon er al mee in zijn out lap, waarin hij in bocht 4 rechtdoor schoot. Toen de regen begon vloog de Japanner er nogmaals af. Dit keer op hoge snelheid in bocht 8, de bocht waar Kimi Raikonen vorig jaar ontzettend hard crashte. Nakajima was niet de enige die in de Variante Ascari het grind opzocht, ook Sebastian Vettel en Adrian Sutil verlieten daar het asfalt.

Laatstgenoemde ging ook al eens rechtdoor in bocht 4, maar wederomviel die eer niet alleen hem ten deel. Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso en Rubens Barrichello sneden eveneens de Variante della Roggia-chicane af. Jarno Trulli en opnieuw Sutil moesten een andere route nemen voor de eerste chicane, de Prima Variante, terwijl Nelson Piquet jr spinde bij het ingaan van die bochtencombinatie.

straks halen ze de tweede kwalificatie nog bij Flop India, het zou je toch overkomen zeg... :)

Kijk ze gaan... Er blijven natuurlijk veel mensen binnen, toch, ze staan bovenaan ;-) Kijken of er weer een natte race van gemaakt wordt! Lachuh.

Ja, omdat ze op het goede moment op de baan waren.
Maar in de tweede training ook nog goed erbij. Goede motor, slechte airo, gaat wel hard op monza.
