Nakajima: "Nieuwe regenband heeft nog werk nodig"

De nieuwe allround regenband van Bridgestone moet nog flink verbeterd worden voordat introductie in de Formule 1 mogelijk is. Dat oordeel velt Williams-coureur Kazuki Nakajima, die de nieuwe band vorige week op het circuit van Jerez uitprobeerde, op autosport.com.

Ik weet niet of ik de enige was die met de nieuwe regenband testte, maar het was op zijn zachtst gezegd zeer moeilijk om met die band te rijden, verklaart de Japanner. Het voelde alsof ik met mijn auto over een ijsbaan gleed. Dit is de eerste generatie allround regenband en die heeft nog veel werk nodig. Nu was het bijna onmogelijk om de auto onder controle te houden.

Bridgestone zelf staat ook niet achter het plan voor één type regenband in plaats van de intermediates en full wets. De Japanse bandenfirma heeft de nieuwe band echter op verzoek van de teams ontwikkeld, die waren ontevreden over de twee beschikbare regenbanden.
