Abu Dhabi overweegt nachtrace

Na het succes van afgelopen weekend in Singapore, waar de eerste Formule 1-race in de avond werd verreden van de geschiedenis van de sport, overweegt nu ook Abu Dhabi een race in het donker te rijden.

De Grand Prix van Singapore, door de straten verreden met kunstlicht van Philips, blijkt een groot succes te zijn geworden. De organisatie van de Grand Prix van Australië en Maleisië denken na om hun tijdschema aan te passen, Abu Dhabi wil mee met Singapore om een avond of nachtrace te organiseren, ondanks dat de tijdzone van dit land slechts enkele uren afwijkt aan dat van Europa.

Binnen enkele weken zal de organisatie haar plannen bekend maken. Race directeur Philippe Gurdjian vertelt het volgende: "Hoe unieker je bent in de toekomst, hoe succesvoller je zult zijn. We zullen binnenkort het project presenteren en bekend maken of er daadwerkelijk een avondrace plaats zal vinden."
