Tram oorzaak van uitvalbeurt Webber

Mark Webber haalde het einde van de Grand Prix van Singapore niet vanwege een mechanisch probleem en zijn team Red Bull Racing denkt de oorzaak achterhaald te hebben. Statische energie van een voorbij rijdende tram heeft de elektronica van de RB4 van de Australiër in de war gegooid. Een andere verklaring voor de uitvalbeurt van Webber kan de Oostenrijkse renstal niet geven.

Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner zegt in Autosport: Bij bocht 13 selecteerde de versnellingsbak twee versnellingen tegelijk. De bak schakelde in één keer van vijf naar zeven. Na onderzoek hebben we geconstateerd dat de software daar niet de reden voor was. We hebben wel een tijdelijke elektronische piek op dat moment gezien, wat volgens ons de oorzaak is. Het was namelijk precies hetzelfde als hetgeen Scuderia Toro Rosso op vrijdag met Sebastien Bourdais meemaakte, op precies dezelfde plek. Een tramlijn gaat onder die bocht door en het lijkt alsof een voorbij rijdende tram statische energie door de grond richting onze auto stuurde, wat uiteindelijk voor de problemen zorgde.
