Bridgestone werkt nog steeds aan nieuwe regenband

Bridgestone is nog steeds bezig met het ontwikkelen van een nieuw type regenband, ondanks een niet al te positieve eerste test en de tegenwerking van de Formule 1-teams. Vorig jaar kwam er een verzoek van de teams om een soort regenband te introduceren, in plaats van de huidige twee specificaties. Recent heeft Bridgestone de nieuwe band getest, maar dat was niet erg succesvol. Williams-coureur Kazuki Nakajima klaagde over weinig grip en had het idee op 'ijs te rijden'.

Bridgestone's Hirohide Hamashima: "Het commentaar op de geteste band is dat hij niet zoveel grip bood, dus we moeten de compound nog eens goed nakijken. We moeten de stijfheid houden, maar we gaan op zoek naar materiaal dat meer grip biedt in natte omstandigheden."

Het is nog niet bekend op welke termijn de nieuwe versie getest zal gaan worden.
