FIA en FOTA praten na China over kostenbesparingen

Max Mosley, president van de internationale autosportbond FIA, heeft een afspraak gemaakt met de FOTA (Formula One Teams Association) om na de Grand Prix van China om de tafel te gaan zitten. Dat heeft hij geregeld met FOTA-voorzitter Luca di Montezemolo. Discussiepunt wordt de invoering van kostenbesparende maatregelen die volgens Mosley nodig zijn om de toekomst van de Formule 1 veilig te stellen.

In een verklaring meldt de FIA: Na een constructieve bijeenkomst tussen de twee voorzitters zijn ze overeengekomen dat de FIA-president alle leden van de FOTA uitnodigt voor een bijeenkomst na de Chinese Grand Prix. Bij deze bijeenkomst zal de FIA de strategische beslissingen die gezien de economische situatie vereist zijn, delen met de teams. Daarbij gaat het om significante kostenreductie, de toekomstige reglementen betreffende het chassis en de aandrijving, en het behoud van het competitieve element.
