Carlo van Dam rijdt Japans Super GT voor Subaru

Carlo van Dam kent een zéér succesvol jaar in Japan. In januari vertrok de columnist van F1Today.nl voor een avontuur naar Japan om met het Toyota Team TOM's te strijden om de Japanse Formule 3-titel. Van Dam won deze titel met overmacht, twee races voor het einde van het seizoen.

Volgend jaar hoopt Van Dam voort te kunnen bouwen op zijn successen in Japan. Carlo meldde exclusief aan F1Today.nl, mee te doen aan de laatste Super GT races in Japan voor het team van Subaru. Carlo: "Ik zal de laatste twee races van het Super GT in Japan gaan rijden voor het team van Subaru. Ik ben heel erg blij met deze kans aangezien ik volgend jaar verder wil in Japan in de Formule Nippon en Super GT."

"Mijn prestaties dit jaar zijn opgevallen en in Japan wordt je heel erg snel gewaardeerd. Doordat het slechts in een paar dagen is geregeld door mijn teambaas van TOM's heb ik nog met niemand gesproken van Subaru en zal ik vrijdag voor het eerst in de auto zitten. Ik ben benieuwd hoe deze wagen zal presteren, en hoe snel ik me kan aanpassen omdat de Subaru vierwielaandrijving heeft."

"We rijden in de GT300-klasse, in tegenstelling tot de Lexus van TOM's waar ik eerder in heb gereden, die rijdt in de GT500. Ik heb een ervaren teamgenoot die met drie verschillende automerken hier ooit kampioen is geworden, dat is dus een goede graadmeter. Ik hoop dat de goede prestaties van dit jaar doorgezet kunnen worden in de Super GT!"

Komend weekend zal Carlo van Dam in de Subaru racen op het circuit van Autopolis. Tijdens het weekend van 8 en 9 november vindt de laatste race van het jaar plaats op de Fuji Speedway.
