Bruno Senna test later deze maand voor Honda

Het team van Honda laat GP2-coureur Bruno Senna later deze maand voor het eerst kennismaken met een Formule 1-auto. De Braziliaan mag bij de Japanse renstal instappen voor de test op het circuit van Barcelona van 17 tot en met 19 november. Honda onderwerpt Senna in Spanje aan een evaluatie voor een racestoeltje voor 2009.

Teambaas Ross Brawn: Het doet ons goed dat we Bruno een test kunnen aanbieden in een voortdurende bestudering van onze rijdersopties voor volgend seizoen. Na een indrukwekkend seizoen in de GP2 is dit de kans voor Bruno om te bewijzen dat hij klaar is voor de stap naar de Formule 1. We kijken uit naar hoe hij zich zal houden. De komende twee weken zal Bruno veel tijd doorbrengen in onze fabriek in Brackley om nauw samen te werken met de engineers en plaats te nemen in onze simulator, zodat hij optimaal is voorbereid op zijn eerste Formule 1-test.

Senna is uiteraard dolblij met deze kans. Dat ik Honda mij mijn eerste Formule 1-test aanbiedt is een droom die uitkomt. Ik zit pas vier jaar in de autosport, maar een test in een Formule 1-auto is al tijden een wens van me. Ik voel me ook klaar voor de uitdaging. Ik ben al naar de fabriek geweest en iedereen was zeer behulpzaam. Ik wil zoveel mogelijk leren voordat ik in Barcelona aan de bak moet. Ik hoop dat ik Honda kan laten zien wat ik in huis heb en het is nu aan mij om het goed te doen.
