Nick Fry: "Autofabrikanten en sponsoren willen terugkeer Amerika"

Honda-teambaas Nick Fry is één van de teambazen die voorop loopt in de strijd om een Grand Prix in Noord-Amerika terug te krijgen op de kalender. Dit jaar werd de Grand Prix van Amerika geschrapt, terwijl voor volgend jaar de Grand Prix van Canada is verdwenen van de Formule 1-kalender.

Fry vertelde enkele weken geleden al dat veel autofabrikanten en sponsoren erg ontevreden zijn met dit besluit. Amerika is een belangrijke markt voor veel autofabrikanten en de sponsoren. Fry: "Amerika is een essentiële markt voor ons. Het is van groot belang dat we als sport kunnen terugkeren op dit continent. Indianapolis is één van de opties, maar een Grand Prix aan de Oostkust in New York of een belangrijke grote stad aan de Westkust is voor de Formule 1 veel interessanter."

"De gesprekken over een terugkeer in 2010 zijn momenteel gaande en we kijken er met zijn allen naar uit dat deze gesprekken zo snel mogelijk tot een Grand Prix zullen leiden."
