Toyota begint wintertests in Bahrein

Nu het Formule 1-seizoen 2008 ten einde is, staan traditiegetrouw de wintertests weer voor de deur. De eerste wintertest wordt altijd in november verreden op het Circuit de Catalunya nabij Barcelona. Dit jaar zullen echter niet alle teams aanwezig zijn bij deze eerste wintertest.

Toyota zal twee weken achter elkaar in Bahrein gaan testen, zo kan F1Today.nl exclusief melden. Door de nieuwe testreglementen, waardoor elk team niet meer dan 30.000 kilometer maximaal per jaar mag testen, is het erg van belang deze kilometers zo zorgvuldig mogelijk te gebruiken. Het gaat er tegenwoordig niet direct meer om hoeveel dagen een team test, maar vooral hoe deze maximaal benut kunnen worden.

Het Japanse Toyota zal niet deelnemen aan de eerste wintertest in Barcelona. In plaats daarvoor kiest het in Keulen gevestigde team ervoor om een privé-test te houden op 10, 11 en 12 december in Bahrein. Een week later zal deze test voortgezet worden op 15, 16 en 17 december.
