Bourdais: "Hoogtepunt van 2008 moet contractverlenging worden"

Viervoudig Champ Car-kampioen Sebastien Bourdais had het niet eenvoudig in zijn debuutseizoen in de Formule 1. De Fransman scoorde in dienst van Scuderia Toro Rosso slechts vier punten, terwijl teamgenoot Sebastian Vettel maar liefst 35 punten pakte. De teamleiding verlengde het contract van Bourdais ook nog niet, maar hij hoopt dat de laatste paar Grands Prix genoeg zijn voor een nieuwe verbintenis.

Mijn hoogtepunt van dit jaar wordt hopelijk contractverlenging, begint de Fransman. Ik wil dolgraag in de Formule 1 en bij Scuderia Toro Rosso blijven. In het laatste deel van het seizoen kreeg ik namelijk pas het gevoel dat ik echt comfortabel met de STR3 te werk kon gaan, na meerdere moeilijke races. Q3 halen in vijf van de laatste zes Grands Prix is een mooie statistiek en mijn kwalificatieronde in Brazilië was mijn beste rondje van het jaar, hoewel ik op Monza van de tweede startrij vertrok.
