Lezers Britse krant kiezen Alonso als beste coureur van 2008

Niet de Engelse wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton, maar de Spanjaard Fernando Alonso is door de lezers van de Britse krant The Times verkozen tot beste Formule 1-coureur van 2008. Het verschil tussen de twee bedroeg slechts tien stemmen.

Vicekampioen Felipe Massa is terug te vinden op de derde plek, voor Robert Kubica en Sebastian Vettel. Heikki Kovalainen eindigde als twaalfde in de verkiezing. Ook opvallend, de Britse lezers schatten het teleurstellende jaar van de Britse coureurs David Coulthard en Jenson Button op waarde in. Ze nemen respectievelijk de zeventiende en negentiende plaats in de uitslag in. De laatste plek viel ten deel aan Kazuki Nakajima.
