Vettel sluit Barcelona-test af als snelste

Sebastian Vettel is ook na de derde en laatste testdag op het Circuit de Catalunya de snelste coureur van de eerste wintertest in de aanloop naar 2009. De Red Bull Racing-rijder was sneller dan Sebastien Bourdais en Sebastien Buemi, beiden in een Toro Rosso.

De twee gloednieuwe BMW Sauber-bolides van Nick Heidfeld reden naar een vijfde en zesde tijd van de dag. Eerder leek de dag van de Duitser slecht te beginnen toen hij in de vijfde bocht tot stilstand kwam. Later vertelde hij F1Today.nl in de paddock dat dit deel uitmaakte van een test waarbij werd bekeken hoever de BMW kon rijden op reservebrandstof.

Opnieuw testte Pedro de la Rosa voor Force India. Hij eindigde de dag onderaan de tijdenlijst, vlak achter Giancarlo Fisichella. De Italiaan kwam in de middag ook stil te vallen en moest achterop een vrachtwagen terug naar de pits worden gebracht.

Sebastien Buemi, die duelleert met Sebastien Bourdais en Takuma Sato, heeft opnieuw een prima testdag achter de rug. Wel is hij voor de derde dag op rij langzamer dan zijn concurrenten, die beide slechts anderhalve dag in de auto hebben gereden.
