Hamilton demonstreert MP4-23 tijdens Race of Champions

Formule 1-wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton zal zijn McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 demonstreren voorafgaand aan het Race of Champions-evenement in het Londense Wembley-stadion. De Brit zal niet deelnemen aan het evenement zelf, maar komt puur als bedankje voor zijn Britse fans.

Na afloop van de demonstraties komt Hamilton in actie met een Mercedes straatauto, waarmee hij het op zal nemen tegen Olympisch goud-winnaar Chris Hoy, op de fiets wel te verstaan.

Hamilton: "Het gaat heel speciaal voor me worden. Ik heb al eerder demonstraties buiten circuits om gedaan, maar in een stadion zal een aparte ervaring worden vanwege de sfeer. Het is een fantastische manier om mijn fans te bedanken voor hun steun."

Ook Chris Hoy, winnaar van drie gouden plakken op de Olympische Spelen in Beijing, kijkt uit naar het evenement. "Op de trappers kom ik tot ongeveer 2,5 pk, dus dat zal niet genoeg zijn om hem te verslaan. De organisatie zal ervoor zorgen dat het allemaal erg dicht bij elkaar komt te liggen. Ik heb er zin in!"
