McLaren-sponsor: "Krijgen meer dan waar voor ons geld"

McLaren raakt aan het einde van 2009 sponsor Banco Santander kwijt aan Ferrari, maar ondanks de financiële crisis zijn de andere geldschieters wel tevreden bij de Britse renstal. Neem Diageo, eigenaar van Johnnie Walker. Volgens de verhalen stopt die firma 23 miljoen dollar per jaar in McLaren en dat is volgens het bedrijf nog een koopje voor een plek op de bolide.

Diageo-directeur Paul Walsh deelt in The Times mede zeer content met de overeenkomst met de leverancier van de wereldkampioen bij coureurs te zijn. Het gaat om veel geld, maar met vierhonderd miljoen kijkers per Grand Prix is dit het ideale middel om ons merk te promoten over de hele wereld. En nu maken we deel uit van het kampioensteam, dat is natuurlijk ook veel waard.
