Bortolotti: "Natuurlijk is de Formule 1 mijn einddoel"

Mirko Bortolotti maakte vorige week indruk tijdens zijn eerste Formule 1-test. De 18-jarige Italiaan kreeg als beloning voor zijn Italiaanse Formule 3-titel een test voor Ferrari op het circuit van Fiorano en greep die kans met beide handen aan. Bortolotti verbrak het F2008-ronderecord dat op naam van vaste Ferrari-testrijder Andrea Bertolini stond.

Aan carrièreplanning doet Bortolotti niet, het gewenste eindpunt is wel bekend. Voor minder dan de Formule 1 doet hij het niet. Wat ik volgend jaar ga doen is nog niet duidelijk, begint hij op motorline.cc. Er is nog niks concreet. De GP2 is denkbaar, maar zoals ik al zei: er staat nog niks vast. Mijn einddoel is natuurlijk de Formule 1.

Een nieuwe testmogelijkheid zit er voorlopig echter niet in. Ik heb nog geen uitnodigingen voor nieuwe testdagen gehad. Ik ben ook nog jong, ik moet nog veel leren en mezelf verder ontwikkelen. Ik wil in ieder geval Ferrari, de Italiaanse autosportbond en het Italiaans Formule 3-kampioenschap bedanken voor deze geweldige gelegenheid, aldus Bortolotti.
