Lokale overheid belegt bijeenkomst vanwege Hockenheimring

De overheid van de deelstaat Baden-Württemberg gaat kijken wat het kan doen om de Grand Prix van Duitsland voor de Hockenheimring te behouden. Officials riepen tot op heden dat het geen geld zou steken in de baan, maar nu gaat de lokale regering toch het gesprek aan met belanghebbenden om een oplossing te zoeken.

Door de problemen van de Hockenheimring is de toekomst van de Formule 1-race in Duitsland in gevaar, aangezien de Nürburgring niet jaarlijks de race kan organiseren. Een bezorgde Hermann Tomczyk, sportpresident van de Duitse automobielclub, vertelde persbureau DPA dat Duitsland op de Formule 1-kalender thuis hoort. Zoals sommige andere Europese landen is Duitsland een fundamenteel component van het Grand Prix-schema.
