Honda-baas verontschuldigt zich aan Jenson Button

Jenson Button kreeg gisteren te horen dat als er geen koper komt voor het Honda Formule 1-team, hij in 2009 zonder stoeltje zit. Voor een overstap naar een andere renstal is het nu te laat, alle teams zijn al zo goed als gevuld.

Reden voor Honda-president Takeo Fukui om zijn excuses aan Button aan te bieden. Het is heel jammer en ik voel me verplicht om diep sorry tegen Jenson te zeggen. In de huidige economische situatie hadden wij echter geen andere keuze.

Button mag desondanks nog een klein beetje hoop om in Melbourne op de grid te staan koesteren. De Engelsman heeft een contract met het Formule 1-team en als de renstal overgenomen wordt, kan de nieuwe eigenaar die verbintenis respecteren.
