Red Bull Racing: "Besparingen niet ten koste van ons programma"

Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner moet het volgend jaar met aanzienlijk minder financiële middelen doen. Energiedrankenfabrikant Red Bull voelt de financiële crisis ook en schroeft het budget van de renstal met dertig procent naar beneden. Dat zal echter geen gevolgen hebben voor de vorm van het Oostenrijkse team.

Dat verklaarde Horner tegenover autosport.com. We waren al voorzichtig geweest in de planning voor Red Bull Racing en ik denk niet dat ons programma op welke manier dan ook in gevaar is. Elk team is bezig met besparingen in samenwerking met de FOTA (teamverband, red.) en de FIA (internationale autosportbond, red.). Wij hebben al gereageerd op en ons aangepast aan de economische situatie. De kosten voor de Formule 1 waren de afgelopen jaren uit de hand gelopen.

Stappen worden al ondernomen, zoals het langer mee laten gaan van motoren en minder testen, dus dat levert al een natuurlijke vorm van kostenreducties op. Daarnaast werkt de FOTA nog aan extra voorstellen, dus dat is positief. En het is ook wel nodig gezien de huidige economische situatie.
