Michael Schumacher heeft zin in Race of Champions

Het einde van het jaar nadert en dan is het tijd voor de Race of Champions, een spektakel in het Wembley-stadion in Londen waaraan coureurs uit diverse series meedoen. Ook oud-coureurs nemen deel. Kopstuk van die groep is zevenvoudig wereldkampioen Formule 1 Michael Schumacher. De Duitser staat te trappelen om aan het evenement te beginnen.

Schumacher: Het leuke aan de Race of Champions is dat je allemaal coureurs uit andere klasses tegenkomt en daar tijd mee door kan brengen. Normaal gesproken is dit onmogelijk omdat iedereen een druk programma heeft. De sfeer is zeer ontspannen, je hangt gewoon wat samen en dat is geweldig. Ik heb enorm veel respect voor alle deelnemers. Iedereen is in zijn eigen discipline een fantastische coureur en iedereen heeft passie voor de autosport, daar draait het bij dit evenement om.

Bovendien is het zeer plezierig. Het is wel raar om in zon stadion te rijden, omdat alles heel krap is. Tegelijkertijd vraag je jezelf af hoe het kan dat ze er een circuitje hebben kunnen aanleggen. Het is spectaculair om deel te nemen en om naar te kijken, en dat is de reden dat het al jaren goed werkt.
