Renault bereidt zich voor op langere levensduur motoren

Nelson Piquet jr werkte gisteren een vruchtbare testdag op het circuit van Jerez af. De Renault-coureur evalueerde de slicks die volgend jaar terugkeren, probeerde enkele aerodynamische aanpassingen voor 2009 uit en onderwierp de motor aan een uithoudingstest. Zodoende bereidt de Franse renstal zich voor op de langere levensduur van de krachtbronnen, die volgend jaar drie in plaats van twee Grands Prix mee moeten gaan.

Piquet jr reed uiteindelijk de meeste ronden van alle aanwezige coureurs, namelijk 123, en zette de achtste tijd neer. Terugkijkend op zijn testdag concludeert de Braziliaan: Het was een goede dag. Ik heb veel ronden gereden en we hebben ondanks de regen toch veel kilometers kunnen maken. Het was koud en de asfalttemperatuur lag laag, maar toch hadden we vrij veel grip waardoor we nog nuttige data over de banden konden verzamelen.
