Donington wil vliegverkeer tijdens de race beperken

De baas van circuit Donington Park zijn van plan om tijdens Formule 1-races het vliegverkeer op het nabij gelegen East Midlands Airport te beperken. Vanaf 2010 zal hier de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannie worden verreden. Volgens een zegsman zal niet het gehele vliegveld worden afgesloten, maar gaat het om het terugdringen van de overlast die veroorzaakt zou kunnen worden.

We zijn in onderhandeling met hen om hun vliegbewegingen tijdens de race tot een minimum te beperken, verklaart Donington-baas Simon Gillett. Het vliegveld hoeft niet helemaal gesloten te worden, maar we willen dat tijdens de race vliegtuigen niet mogen landen of opstijgen vanaf het East Midlands Airport. En tijdens de piekuren zal het vliegveld exclusief gebruikt mogen worden door de partijen binnen de Formule 1.
