Peter Windsor: "USF1 wil als klein team groot worden"

Peter Windsor, een van de mannen achter het USF1-project, vindt het de ideale tijd om een Formule 1-team op te richten. Hij is van mening dat de koningsklasse van de autosport adequate kostenbesparende maatregelen neemt en dat het de economische crisis wel zal overleven. Samen met USF1, dat in 2010 op de grid wil staan.

Windsor zei op Crash.net Radio: Waarom de Formule 1 is een makkelijk te beantwoorden vraag. Het is de grootste sport ter wereld, groter dan het WK voetbal, de Olympische Spelen en de Super Bowl. Het trekt jaarlijks meer dan zeshonderd miljoen televisiekijkers en is geweldig georganiseerd. Het seizoen begint aan het begin van het jaar en eindigt aan het einde, geweldig. Geen enkele andere sport heeft dat. De Formule 1 is de mooiste sport ter wereld en daar willen we deel van uitmaken. En de tijd is er goed voor.

Wij willen een team opzetten en willen dat anders doen. We willen bewijzen dat een succesvolle Formule 1-auto ontworpen en gebouwd kan worden in Amerika. Daarna willen we ook winnen, maar wel op onze eigen manier. Met weinig mensen, een compact team. Het wordt minder uitbundig dan de andere teams, maar plezier staat bij ons voorop. Onze teamleden zullen altijd met een lach op hun gezicht rondlopen. Dat maakt ons anders dan de meeste andere Formule 1-teams.

Als er een Usa formule 1 team komt..
Zou het eigenlijk toch wel weer cool zijn om weer op Idianapolis te gaan rijden..?
Waarom gingen ze na 2007 niet meer op indianapolis rijden?
Vanwege die ene keer Michelin banden-gedoe......
