Coulthard houdt rekening met een sterkere Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton zal dit jaar zijn wereldtitel met hand en tand verdedigen. En dat gaat de McLaren-coureur met verve doen, is de verwachting van oud-coureur David Coulthard. De Schot gelooft dat Hamilton door zijn kampioenschap meer kan ontspannen en bovendien moet hij geleerd hebben van zijn fouten uit de afgelopen twee jaar.

Coulthard: Als het hem niet gelukt was in zijn tweede seizoen, dan had dat wel nare gevolgen kunnen hebben voor dit jaar en de rest van zijn loopbaan. Nu kan hij veel meer relaxed te werk gaan. Lewis krijgt steeds meer ervaring en hij heeft niks meer te bewijzen. Daardoor zal hij de kans krijgen om nog meer van zijn talent te tonen.

Hij heeft de afgelopen winter hard gewerkt aan zijn fitheid en aan het verder verfijnen van zijn rijcapaciteiten. Hij maakte vorig jaar af en toe fouten, maar hoe kwam dat? Omdat zijn lichaam en zijn hersenen niet meer perfect samenwerkten. Daar heeft hij van geleerd en daardoor zal hij dit jaar van een hoger niveau zijn.
