Sebastian Vettel: "De favorieten zijn rood en zilver"

Red Bull Racing-coureur Sebastian Vettel houdt een slag om de arm bij de inschatting van de kansen van zijn werkgever. De Oostenrijkse renstal presteert tot nu toe goed in de wintertests, maar de benoeming tot titelkandidaat gaat Vettel toch iets te ver. Dan moet echt alles perfect lopen en alles moet onze kant op vallen.

Hij vervolgt: Wij zijn niet de favorieten. De favorieten zijn rood en zilver, dat zijn Ferrari en McLaren. Die positie is nog ver weg voor ons, maar we werken hard. We hebben veel potentie en de auto voelt lekker, dus we zien wel. Als ons pakket goed genoeg is om te winnen, dan moeten we ook winnen. Anders presteren we ondermaats.

Williams oogde vorig seizoen ook heel erg sterk in de voorbereiding en eindigde op het podium in Australië. Een paar weken later had niemand het meer over Williams. Wintertests zijn maar wintertests, iedereen probeert dingen uit en krijgt nog nieuwe ontwikkelingen. Het is gewoon wachten tot we in Melbourne beginnen voor een goed beeld.
