Kostenbesparingen staan hoog op agenda bij FOTA

Net als de internationale autosportbond FIA zijn ook de teams verenigd in FOTA doordrongen van het feit dat ze de kosten de komende jaren nog verder moeten reduceren. Dat blijkt uit de voorstellen die de FOTA vandaag in Genève presenteerde. Vanaf 2010 mogen teams de aerodynamica nog maar beperkt updaten.

BMW Sauber-teambaas Mario Theissen: Voor 2010 komen er verdere reducties. Qua aerodynamica zijn we overeengekomen om de ontwikkeling te halveren ten opzichte van dit jaar. Het aantal updates is beperkt. Renstallen mogen drie verschillende versies motorkappen, side-pods, diffusers, air ducts en vloeren inzetten, dat zijn dus twee updates. Voor vleugels is het maximum ingesteld op vijf.

Ook wordt de ontwikkeling van versnellingsbak voor de periode van 2010 tot en met 2012 bevroren, mogen coureurs nog maar vier versnellingsbakken per jaar inzetten en daalt de prijs voor klantenteams naar 1,5 miljoen euro per jaar. Tevens willen de teams vanaf 2010 met een standaard KERS acteren.
