Force India: "Niemand straatlengte voor of mijlenver achter"

James Key, technisch directeur bij Force India, draagt bij aan de vermoedens dat het over tweeënhalve week dringen wordt voor de voorste posities. Gezien de testresultaten lijken de verschillen tussen alle teams minimaal. Ook bij Key leeft die gedachte.

Iets wat me echt opvalt is hoe dicht iedereen bij elkaar lijkt te zitten. Niemand ligt een straatlengte voor, niemand ligt mijlenver achter. Het is onmogelijk om te weten wat iedereen doet, maar wij rijden met vrij eerlijke brandstofhoeveelheden. Ik weet zeker dat bijna alle teams hun kaarten nog niet op tafel gegooid hebben, aldus Key.

Over de vorderingen van zijn werkgever zegt hij: We moeten de slicks nog beter leren begrijpen. De banden zijn compleet anders dan wat we gewend waren. Er zijn veel details waarmee je eerder op snelheid kunt komen of het rubber gemakkelijker door lange runs heen kan helpen. We hebben nog veel werk te doen, maar de eerste tekenen zijn goed.
