Door de goede samenwerking van alle Formule 1-teams, verenigd in FOTA, wacht de internationale autosportbond FIA waarschijnlijk met de invoering van een nieuw kampioenschapmodel. Dat zegt Renault-teambaas Flavio Briatore in Gazetta dello Sport.

Wat nu gebeurt demonstreert dat als de teams samenwerken, hun stem wordt gehoord, begint de Italiaan. Het is niet waar dat we hierover geïnformeerd zijn. Met Bernie Ecclestone hebben we het wel over medailles gehad, maar over het systeem dat de World Motor Sport Council goedkeurde hebben we het nooit gehad. Waarom we er tegen zijn? Omdat wij vinden dat het niet interessant is, dat is alles.
