Rosberg: "Racen met laaghangende zon is gevaarlijk"

In Australië werd geëxperimenteerd met een nieuwe aanvangstijdstip voor de race. De Grand Prix startte om 17.00 uur lokale tijd. De twilight race kan echter niet op ieders goedkeuring rekenen. Williams-coureur Nico Rosberg spreekt van een gevaarlijke situatie door de laaghangende zon.

Komend weekend in Maleisië vangt de wedstrijd opnieuw om 17.00 uur lokale tijd aan, met als extra gevaar de kans op een tropische bui. Rosberg vertelde aan Reuters: Als het ook nog gaat regenen, dan moet de race stilgelegd worden. We kunnen niet racen in de hoeveelheid water die daar normaal gesproken naar beneden komt.

En die twilight races zijn volgens mij niet iets waar we aan vast moeten houden. In Melbourne vergrootte de laaghangende zon het gevaar alleen maar. De zichtbaarheid is minimaal, op sommige plekken kon je de baan niet eens meer zien. Op een gegeven moment keek ik op bepaalde gedeeltes recht tegen de zon in. Ik hoop echt dat ze deze starttijd gaan heroverwegen.
